Let’s Revive Our Church to Transform Our Nation

The Psalmist cries out in Psalm 85:6–7 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.”

This humble prayer for revival acknowledges that revival depends on God and not on us. We cannot have it, no matter what we do because it is given by God. We, however, must pray for revival and pray with anticipation.

The Church in India needs revival, for it is only a revived Church that can cause the nation to be blessed. God has made it very clear in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that He will hear from heaven, forgive the sins of His people and bless the land if we, His people, who are called by His name, would humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. The healing of our nation depends on the faithfulness of the Church. There is much at stake.

We must not be satisfied with pockets of revival in some parts of our nation, but we must continue to pray for a season of refreshing on the entire Church in India, in every district, every village and town. Prayer and faithfulness in life and witness is the key for unlocking revival in our nation that will heal and bless our country.

Evangelical Fellowship of India and EFICC are calling on the Church in India to observe the coming decade of 2020–2030 as the decade of prayer and revival. The theme for the decade is “Thy Kingdom Come” and has been chosen from Matthew 6:10.

Prayer and faithfulness in life and witness is the key for unlocking revival in our nation that will heal and bless our country.

The vision for the Decade of Prayer and Revival (DPR) 2020–2030 is Revived Churches and Transformed Nation. During this time, we would endeavour to initiate and sustain prayer movements that will lead to repentance, restoration, and evangelism which we believe, would lead to the transformation of our nation.

We would launch this effort on January 1, 2020 and the decade has been divided into four phases with specific emphasis.

First Three Years

The first three years of DPR 20–30 will be used in laying the groundwork at the grassroots. It is envisioned that teams of people from different local churches in our villages, towns, cities will be coming together and spreading the idea. This phase will be crucial for creating awareness about the initiative. At this time prayers will start in many places that would be able to organise themselves quickly.

Second Three Years

This phase will be a time when intensive prayer and revival meetings would be held in all churches throughout the country.

Last Three Years

Last three years of the DPR will see earnest prayer continue and intensify throughout the nation. It is believed that during this phase we would start to see the outcome of our prayers as they continue.

Year of Celebration

During this year, celebration gatherings will be organised at regional, state, district and block levels. Prayers of thanksgiving will be raised.

We must wait expectantly on God and let Him sweep over our land. He loves India and has great plans for us as a nation.
