A Letter From Our Editor

Christian Trends is now in the seventh year!

Trends are part of our fast-changing lives. But it is crucial that our conviction in the God who is moving remains the same! Christian Trends was birthed with a desire to faithfully capture and engage with the move of God.

Web edition is a change that we have been working for some time. It will be a little more drastic than the print edition. In the web edition, the substance of the articles remains the same, and so also the overall look of the magazine, but the articles become part of the larger and more convenient search engines, making them more easily accessible.

Unlike our print magazine, web reading is not a stationary activity. Each one of us roams from page to page, collecting salient bits of information from a variety of sources. We scan the contents of a page, get the information, and move on. This reminds us of God’s moving, in nooks and corners that “you would not believe, even if you were told”!

But the web reading also presents a challenge. Too often web pages end up as isolated fragments of information, divorced from the larger context of their parent sites and thoughts. This is a humble reminder of our own lives in this world, so fragmented that unless there is a sustained narrative, would be directionless, much like users in the web-world, aimlessly wandering in their quest for information and truth. God’s story is the continuous narrative that holds us together!

We often talk about our faith life regarding our interconnectedness of the ‘horizontal’ and the ‘vertical.’ The web edition is an invitation to move from ‘horizontal flipping’ to ‘vertical scrolling.’ The linear presentation structure of the vertical edition provides the always-valuable and unique “magazine experience.”

Every change has made it easier for us to reach you and for you to reach us. You will still see the same type of excellent material you have always enjoyed in the past—and all the back issues will remain available. And though transitions are demanding,  we expect this transition to serve you better, to offer you more than we already have!
